There is a light that never goes out - PI Scale

2017

The design for the lamp There is a light that never goes out is inspired by the image of an old-fashioned flycatcher. A freeform. The lamp is floating and seems to flutter in the wind. The design is timeless and surreal. Each lamp is unique by rolling out and fixing of the OLEDs. The design shows what is possible with the new material of flexible OLEDs. Roll out, folding and bending. The lamp is intended for people who are open to new, exciting and experimental designs and can be sold worldwide. The lamp can be made in a hanging or standing version and in various light colors. White, orange, blue, purple, red and green. The dimensions are variable. Any size is possible.  

SPICA 026 - gemeente Arnhem

A design for a staple, for the benefit of placing bicycles, based in the Nail Quarter in Arnhem. The Nail Quarter owes its name to two medieval warehouses, called nails. The word nail goes back to the Latin Word spica that means ear of corn. The nails were used for the storage of the grain harvest. The oldest known nail was called the Dullertspijker (1572 AD). In later centuries it was used as a country estate, with 12 hectares of land around it. The last owner was the Arnhem lawyer, politician and benefactor W.H. Dullert (1817-1881 AD). Dullert sold from 1860 AD plots of land for the benefit of the Arnhem urban sprawl. He sold also the Dullert Nail which was demolished in 1880. It make way for the houses of the Nail Quarter. The Nail Quarter is now, after years of decline, a sought after residential area. The prostitution is beginning 2006 disappeared and many of the monumental homes are renovated. The idea for the design SPICA 026 is inspired by the image of the Dullert Nail, namesake of the Nail Quarter. The silhouette of the Nail comes back in the staple which is designed especially for the district. The contemporary design of the staple is tailored to the stately and distinguished architecture, typical for the Nail Quarter. A number of proposals are included by the design how to put the staple in series. With simple means, such as applying paving and green, it becomes a landscape element in the built environment. The design is nominated.

Sparkle in the Rain - Terre d’Hermès

2017

The original design for the bottle of Terre d‘Hermès is rooted in the earth and rises to the sky. Water is a connection between heaven and earth. Water is the essence for life. Terre d‘Hermès is the essence for a good life. The graphic design "Sparkle in the Rain" for the bottle of the Terre d‘Hermès Limited Edition Saga is an abstracted image of rain drops with a sparkle of sunlight. The water drops fall along an imaginary H, an iconic print of the house on the earth side. The graphic design is printed at the front side of the bottle and reflects on all sides. The graphic design for the case reflects the design for the bottle.

1634 Hairwax - Rijksmuseum

The Rijksstudio Award is the design competition of the Rijksmuseum. With this competition the National Museum invites the audience to be inspired by the Rijksmuseum collection. We have assumed the newly acquired works by Rembrandt. Marten Soolmans and Oopjen Coppit. Stylish and fashionable in their time. Also now, you want to look good and cared for. Therefore is a hairwax in a convenient take-away packaging. On the go or traveling. With images of Oopjen and Marten. Always a good haircut. Never a bad hairday. Suitable for men and women. Now available in the museumshop.

Balustrading Twist - EeStairs

2015

The design of a balustrade for Eestairs. A design for an elegant and beautiful balustrade, made of simple and inexpensive base material. A special element is a twist in the balusters. The twist creates special light reflections. This effect is enhanced because the top of the baluster is bent inward. The bend of the baluster also creates a natural barrier that prevents that people are not coming too close by the opening of the floor. Published in the book The Evolution of Staircase Design.

Stair Ghost - EeStairs

2015

Design trap Ghost, a hard glass staircase with wooden steps for Eestairs. Why can’t a staircase hang instead of standing. Let the staircase floating like a ghost in the room. And also, the user is a moving shadow through the layers of glass. The starting point for the design is a spectacular and beautiful staircase which generates wonder and amazement by the user. The trap floats in the space and gives a surreal image. The staircase hangs at the ceiling rather than, as usual, standing on the floor. It’s designed from wide to narrow and invites you to go upstairs. The first time you must pass a border to enter the stairscase because the glass construction seems fragile. Lamp - clock Dark side of the moon

A design of studio Op&er for a lamp with a time display. The theme of the design is see and not see. The lamp is inspired by a moon cycle which is depicted in an hour. The varying brightness and colors of light provide different and special atmospheres into the interior. The lamp can be used in public spaces such as museums, restaurants and other public buildings, but also in spacious private homes.The relationship time and moon phases dates back to ancient times. One certain based on the lunar cycle and the seasons when it was the appropriate time to seed, to make sacrifices, or parties to celebrate. The lamp runs a moon cycle from a month in 1 hour. On the whole hours you can see the full moon, on the half hours the new moon. A small digital clock displays the correct time in the image. The dimensions of the lamp are from 2.5 x 2.5 metres and more. The lamp is made of a thin display with OLED technology. Software projects the light with clock at the screens.  

Candlestick

A design for a candle with a ceramic candlestick for Michiel Drijver Keramiek. The product can be a special Valentine’s day gift, but also the whole year in the assortment of stores. The candle in rose shape comes from the existing collection by MD ceramics.

Lamp

2014

Design for a timeless lamp for POLS POTTEN. The lamp gives a soft mood lighting with a color accent in green or blue. The lamp is made of plastic and glass. The fixture is suitable for an LED lamp. The lamp has a diameter of 120 mm and is 270 mm high.

Lamp

The starting point is to design a timeless, but refreshing and innovative lamp for DUTZ Collection. The shape of the lamp is an asymmetrical vase whose top and bottom are open. The lamp can be made in various colors. Here is chosen for a classic purple color which used by the glass designers Copier (Leerdam) and Roosendaal (Maastricht). The lamp can placed as a object and iconic element in the interior. The fixture is suitable for an LED-lighting.

Facade Panel Flintstone - Rockpanel

2013

A new Stone Design for Rockpanel. The name Flintstone refers to the raw material volcanic basalt with which Rock panel is produced. The color Terra from the collection of Rockpanel is chosen because of its association with fire and lava. The design is an abstracted image of an existing stone structure. This structure is the archetype of stone. A color is added to the abstracted image. Most colors from Rockpanel Colours can be used for this series. The result is a powerful and clear design. The design is directionless. The grey veins are a relief on the panel. The scope of the Rockpanel Flintstone is an exteriorboard for facades and eaves. It is also possible used the design as interiorboard.

Waste Bin Almere

2002

Design for a general waste bin on the street for the underground waste transport in the municipality of Almere. Selection panel report (Gijs Bakker): ‘ A graceful design. By the beautiful design certainly a contender. The hull has a little bit of a rocket. The jury believes that the accessibility and visibility are very good ‘.

Tacotin - Brabantia

A design for a durable storage system for Brabantia. There is chosen for a product to save taco shells. The design was nominated for the New Designers Award 2000.
