Fiets-Bord - Rijksmuseum

2015

Design "fiets-bord" for the Rijksmuseum Award 2015. Holland is a bicycle country. In Amsterdam the bike is one of the most important ways of transport. And the Rijksmuseum is the only museum in the world where a cycle path runs through. This unique position is for us a reason for the design of a "fiets-bord". This design is also a nod to the difficult relationship that the Rijksmuseum had with the Amsterdam cyclist during the renovation of the museum. Although this resulted in a special and successful design of the new main entrance for the Rijksmuseum.

Prototype the Light Bin for the ARC 14 Furniture Award. Reuse an office chair. The question of the ARC14 AWARD for a new design. An office chair is a functional design. The chair shall fulfil many requirements, effective and is usually inconspicuous designed. The chair is quickly exchanged for a new one at defects or wear. We views and disassembled an old office chair. In the design the parts are processed in another piece of furniture, that can be used in an office or catering environment. The beautiful, robust chassis is the basis for a candle. This part is well suited for a second life. Using other recycled and natural materials we’re putting the emphasis on reuse. The bin stands for throwing away. By placing the candle and remains of the chair in the bin, we show that waste material can be reused. The Light Bin is a special candle with appearance.
